Middle School Academics
Students in grades 6–8 enjoy a unique atmosphere where we teach each grade level by teams of four teachers. We operate on a six-period day. Each student has four core academic classes (English, math, science, and social studies), two elective classes, and one period for lunch.
Students in grades 4–5 start each day in their homeroom classes, where they receive instruction in language arts, mathematics, and social science. Fourth and fifth graders also have one elective class each day as well as a computer/coding/technology class.
Our back-to-basics approach in the classroom allows teachers to focus on the students and prepare them for standardized testing and the rest of their academic careers.
Fountain Hills Middle School goals include:
- Improve academic achievement in these Language Arts content areas: pre-writing, editing, comprehension, and vocabulary.
- Improve teacher training in the areas of technology, at-risk students, and legislative trends.
We strive to meet the demands and needs of our students. Our curriculums are thoughtfully planned and implemented to help each student reach their highest potential. To view each grade curriculum, please view the following information.

We believe all children should have access to the tools and resources they need to receive a great education. Fountain Hills USD ensures every child who needs help receives it, regardless of any disability or financial capacity. For information about the programs we offer and the qualification process, please review what our district student services programs have to offer. We also recognize that not all students learn at the same pace. To meet the needs of our exceptional students we provide gifted education and special education classes and services.
Qualifying students may participate in our gifted education program. Students will engage in activities demanding higher-level skills as they work as teams and individually to study and solve real-world problems. For qualifying information and testing dates, please visit our district Gifted Education page.
Online textbooks help us maintain fluid learning between the school and home. Access the materials you need right from your kitchen table—you’ll avoid lugging those big, heavy books back and forth to school.
